I have spent years looking for a reasonable spreadsheet (not good,
just reasonable) for the Amiga. I have purchased Superbase
(terriable), Analyze! (almost reasonable, actually, pretty good for
first generation stuff on a floppy), Maxiplan (so near and yet so
far), and finaly Pro Calc 2.0 (at last!). Except for macros, Pro
Calc is the best of the lot. Maxiplan does have better macro
features. I have not been impressed with the graphic capabilities of
any of the spreadsheets, but then, I don't have much need of graphs.
Pro Calc has a limited set of statistical functions and financial
functions. You can set up a worksheet to calculate the more advaced
statistical functions. Of the spreadsheets available for the Amiga,
Pro Calc is (IMHO) the best.
John, I take it 2.0 adds the ability to actually print a sheet? 1.0
never seemed to be able to do that and Gold Disk answer was to import
it into ProPage and format it for printing. Bogus solution!
Did they add the capability to mark say, first two rows snd first two
columns as headers and have them maintained on the screen as the data is
shifted left/right/up/down? Are these header row and columns maintainted
in the printout so that they are repeated on each page? Can it handle
tiling a printout of a sheet that is, sa, two pages wide and two pages
high? Can you set up a Title and request the current date to be printed
as part of an overal sheet Title line? How about auto page numbering of
the output?
All these were missing, in operative or had gross bugs in thier operation
in 1.0. And as a freind of mine said about ProCalc, "what good is a
spreadsheet if you can't get reasonable hardcopy output?" Just curious if
I should waste anytime putting ProCalc back on my system or if I ahould
just sell it (2.0 upgrade included).
