Do you have any idea about Utilities Unlimited policy on upgrades. If I go ahead and buy the Emplant now, will they sell me an updated version at a reasonable price ? I am looking at buying an A4000-40 with 120 HD, Emplant with SCSI + 120 HD for the MAC side. And a Retina board for color. This configuration as quoted is the limit of my budget for this project. The 4000 only comes with 2 meg chip and 4 meg fast. As I will want to use PhotoShop for most of my playtime I know this is nowhere enough memory. Do you know if the Retina board will give me 16 Million + colors on the MAC side or not ? If not I might forgo the Retina board and use the money for memory.

Uh, I dunno. I got my Emplant in trade, and it didn't come with any paperwork. I'd personally go for more RAM over the Retina board. The Emplant can only use half of your available RAM, so your 4000 would only have <3MB for the Mac side – unless you get more. Erik Flom

Edson, one thing to keep in mind, if you do not have a Retina board is that they are seriously backordered. I know, I just tried to order one through several hardware houses. I do hope they clear the backlog soon as it does look like a very nice board (simulated AGA, yes!).
