Animator Pro troubles
4 messages in this thread
I have Animator Pro 1.3, on a 486-50 with 16 MB ram and a Hercules Graphite
SVGA card. I have three questions: 1. When I try to use the vgashow utility
that comes on the CD-ROM, the picture lines separate and the picture appears as
multiple images, all garbled. This happens regardless of which /s or /m
switches I try. Does vgashow not support a Graphite card?
2. Has Autodesk fixed the bug with Summa graphics tablet installation, where
the puck or stylus configuration is irreversable? I have to reconfigure it
every time I start up, EVEN when I start up with the puck and it is installed
for the puck, i.e., even when the device has not been changed.
3. About half the time that I start up AniPro, it locks up. I have to delete t
[Athe aa.cfg file and replace it with a backup one from earlier. What is
happening? In these cases there is nothing wrong with my device connections or
COM port selection.
Thanks for any help.
Steven,
Are you using the VESA driver that comes with the Graphite card? The latest is
in utilities ver. 2.1 available off their bbs. It fixed a lot of earlier VESA
problems. I will try the cd-rom today and let you know what I find out
.. we have a couple of these cards, and have been very happy with them.

Stephen,
do you have the most current version of the VESA driver for your graphite card?
It would be worth a call to the manufacturer to see if you do. Lately it seems
as if VESA drivers are being updated on almost a weekly basis with some video
cards.
I think your having to reset the Summas tablet and replace the aa.cfg file may
be related. The settings for the Summa are stored in the aa.cfg. Have you run
CHKDSK on your system recently? Are you using this program and saving these
files on a compressed of doublespaced drive?

Well, Stephen,
I tried the Graphite with the CD ROM today, and you were right; it doesn't work
for viewing images. I then talked with Jim Carlton at Hercules, and they are
going to look at it pronto. I'll let you know what I hear.
We _don't_ have any problems using AniPro 1.3, though.
