I have trouble with my a1200 ; Compatibility with the 500 , i have already tryed "degrader, run it" but the results are bad… I have heard a quickstart 1.3 could solve the problems… Coming from pc world i am lost … Is there a way to boot like a 500 to provide compatibility with the oldest "gameware"…. (i have also tryed with "disable cache, original chipset") thierry swaenepoel france

What programs are you trying to run? I have upgraded from an A500 also and have found that most of my games will not work. I don't think you can replace the ROMs with the older 1.3 version; however, sometimes if you boot the machine using a 1.3 workbench disk things will work correctly. If the program is really old, you may want to run the NoFastMem program first. A lot of original programs were written on older machines which only had chip RAM; NoFastMem will configure you machine to look as if it has only chip RAM. Hope this helps, Keith.

Thierry- I have an A1200 also. Degrader works for some games. Cold start with both mouse buttons held down and choosing boot options works on others. Have discovered that just disabling cache alone works where using all the options doesn't. Unfortunately some games don't seem to work at all. CU Amiga had a little booklet attached to an issue this spring that listed all the titles that they knew wouldn't work. I'll sift through my mess and see if I can find it if you're interested. —->Everett, co-pilot of the A1200 on AutoPilot—->
