My son wants to buy an Amiga 1200. We live now in the UK, but we will moving soon to Brazil. The TV systems are different: in Brazil the system is called PAL-M, and the mains are 220V, 60 Hz. Will a computer bought in the UK work there ? I am aware of adapters from the American system to the Brazilian, but I don't know if there are such things for the UK system. Does anyone knows about it ? Are there any suggestions ? Thanks Adil Vaz

Adil, I used my American bought (60Hz, 110VAC) Amiga in the UK (50Hz, 220VAC) by using a simple step-up transformer. The difference in frequency didn't seem to change things. Since the mains are 220 I would assume you'd be able to just plug n' chug. -Sean -Sean

Sean, Thanks for the info ! You are probably right: 50/60 hz does not make a difference if you have the right display. Adil

Adil, No problem. I think the 50/60 Hz not making a difference has more to do with the power supply though. -Sean
