Which computer is best for doing animation? I am looking at the Dell XPS90
system, is this a good system ?
Are there any help files that can point me in the direction for what I should
look for in hardware?

Dan,
I just wanted to let you know that many of the people who frequent the forum
are at the SIGGRAPH trade show this week, so you might not get the wide range
of responses this question would normally receive. If people do not respond,
you might want to repost this question next week.

FYI there is a message on the board about a Dell system having REAL problems
with 3DS. I do not know if any others are working with the Dell 90. I am
useing the Micron p-90 with no problems and many are using the DEC with no
problems…hope that helps some.

Hi Dan,
The best bang for the buck right now are the Micron P-90's (on which I saw 3D
Studio R4 being demostrated at SIGGRAPH by Autodesk and the Yost boys) and Zeos
90Mhz Pentiums. And remember, the more RAM you can afford, the merrier!

P.S. The two biggest booths at SIGGRAPH were SoftImage and Autodesk 3D Studio.
I thought that I would never say something like this, but 3D Studio R4 is the
only personal 3D software of choice. I always maintained that there was no one
perfect personal 3D software for every animator's need, from logos to character
animation. I fear that I may have been proven wrong. Congratulations to
Autodesk and all the great guys at the Yost Group. And thanks for the demo
