Tips on Half Size

Some information regarding half size.
Running half-size MUCH faster: Set your screen size to 320×200
first. The increase in speed can be dramatic. I just timed how long
it took to "half-size" a 1024×768 FLC at screen sizes of 1024×768 and
at 320×200. It was 5 TIMES faster at 320×200 (5sec/frame vs. 25). I
have observed similar results on a 486-66 Zeos, a 486-66 DELL, and on
PS/2 mods 70 and 80.
"Dirty" results:
Occasionally, non clear pixels are left behind after running half size. There
are two cases.
Case #1:
Non-clear pixels next to the far-away edges. These interfere if you need to do
a CLIP. You can use CROP to get rid of them.
Case #2:
Half size sometimes creates horizontal bars in colors that are close to the key
color. These are usually impossible to see. They will mess you up if you create
a CEL and expect to use the key color as "CLEAR." To see these horizontal
bands, use the SEPARATE tool to change the key color areas of your FLC
temporarily to a different color.
Resolution of result:
Half size results in a FLC that is the same resolution as the original. To
create a FLC with smaller resolution, after using half size, you can do the
following: put the half-size result in a CEL, save the CEL, load it as a FLC
and save it as a FLC.
