#And the winner is…

Dan,
The story comes from C= UK themselves.
I do CD32 development for a UK company, and they spoke to C= UK yesterday.
They were told that the C= UK management bid had been successful.
Today C= UK are saying that an official announcement will be made in about 3
weeks time. This makes it clear that there are still some loose ends to be
sorted out, but it would seem that a deal has been struck. They also refused to
say who was providing their financial backing. Hopefully it will all become
clearer soon.

Mal,
Thanks for your response. Based on your earlier posting, I called
C-Uk today and talked with David Pleasance. He said he was optimistic, but it
was far from a done deal. He said he was feeling better because they now have
all the financing lined up. When I met him a week ago, apparently the
financing wasn't definite. (I guess I was too dumb to ask about that part.) He
said the company has not yet submitted a revised proposal. Not sure exactly
what that means.

Mal,
As I understand it from Commodore UK, they have had their bid accepted "as a
valid bid". That is all at the moment. We will have to wait a bit longer to
discover the outcome and who has been successful.

Martin,
That makes sense. I should have been more wary of what Dave Pleasance says!
I've noticed in the past a tendency to phrase things to sound more optimistic
than perhaps they really are. "Our bid has been accepted" could be interpreted
in a couple of interesting ways!

I like the car dealer ads that state "All credit applications will be
accepted!" (Said slow and with lots of reverb. 🙂
Pleasance does seem a little like that…

I've heard that car ad. Always thought it was kind of interesting myself.
Wonder how many unsuspecting people are pulled in by it.
