Hi all.
I am fairly new to the Amiga side of CIS and have yet to find a good OLR. I
notice some of you are using Autopilot. Is this an OLR and if so where can I
get hold of a copy.
Also I seem to be having difficulty in getting on to CIS with my Amiga
4000-030 using the USRobotics Sportster 14400 FaxModem. ( I am currently on
line using an Apple IIGS and a Supra 2400). I can get on but all I get back is
garbled text. Any help in this area would br much appreciated.

AutoPilot is in Library 9 of AmigaVendor – AP.LHA and APDOCS.LHA. The
docs are in a separate file intentionally so that the program and docs can
be updated at separate times without everyone having to download the
entire package each time.
AutoPilot is a wonderful program, with far more features than many of the
other packages for other platforms, and it is well-supported, with updates
every few weeks if needed because of problems, and every few months to add
nice new features even if there have been no problems. Actually, the
problems are few, and are usually caused by changes in the CIS software
rather than a problem in AP, which is extremely stable.
If you are calling through a CIS node in England, AP should work fine for
you just as it is. If you have to call through one of the other services,
you may need a 'before' script to help you get online – but we have lots
of English users who can help you with those.
What you will get in AmigaVendor is a demo of the full AutoPilot. It has
nearly everything available to you – but only for Cmail and the Amiga
Forums. Once you have it working well and feel that you want to continue
using it, you register it online and then AForums sends you a magic email
message that turns your working demo into the full registered version that
can access all forums and adds some new abilities to your demo.

Thanks for the info. Ihave located the file but I cannot get a download. I
have tried using both Term and NComm with no success. I know I must be doing
something wrong. I have the comms program set up for 7-Even-1 but when I go to
DL the system is reset by the comms program to 8-none-1. There is a timeout and
then garbled output to the screen presumably because it has not reset back to
7-E-1.
I need some mega help on this to get DL properly. BTW I access a CIS node in
LOndon at 9600. Can you put me on to a UK subscriber to help with htis please?

Sorry to butt in here,
If you are using Term, set serial prefs to 8N1, but set "Strip Bit 8",
which should also be in Serial Prefs, to "ON". This should allow XPRBPlus
or XPRQuickB to work without sending garbage to the screen.
Let me know if you still have any problems. It's so long since I set up
Term that I may have forgotten something.

To download a binary file, you MUST be set to 8-N-1. It is also best if
you use the B protocols, since they are the fastest and most accurate
available. Surely either Term or NCOmm will have one of the B protocols
that you can use. So, set your term to 8-N-1 and try again.
IF all else fails, I have heard that someone has uploaded the archive to
CIX, and you might find it there. I'm not sure they have the latest
version, but it would probably get you started and enable you to get the
latest from here more easily.
