Hello all. I have gotten an Amiga Unix 2.1 tape and boot disks, thinking that there's got to be a way I can use it on my 2000. I have an 040 board and am running DOS 2.1. The disks come up NDOS and won't boot. Is there something I'm missing? Thanks in advance. Jerry

Jerry, Amiga UNIX 2.1 was designed for the 68030 processor, it will not run on a 68040 ( I know from experience about this one – I could either have Amiga UNIX OR my PPS 68040 running, I chose the 040 ). The disks are the boot/root needed for installation on an 030 Amiga, they are not regular Amiga DOS disks. As far as the tape goes, if you have an Archive Viper SCSI tape drive like the one I have you are even further out of luck, It cannot read the Amiga UNIX distribution tape ( even if you run the Viper kludge utility on the boot disk ). I finally gave up on Amiga UNIX and got LINUX running on my MSDOS side – it is real UNIX and very complete but a huge disk is required. Gary

Gary, Thanks for the information. I have a message in with GVP (it's their 040 card) in case they have any other ideas, but I think you're right that this is a hopeless case. Thanks again. Jerry
