#Occluding Flare…HELP
4 messages in this thread
Help! I can't seem to get the occlude function to operate properly for Flare.
I've reviewed the demo, text. I have a self illuminated difuse colored object
as my flare object, which is positioned behind the object I want to hide it
behind in the camera view. I was hope to have no flare until the object peeks
around the side of the planet, like the plliars in the demo but no luck… I've
used hilite before with occlusion but for some reason the Flare won't work. It
flare continuously throughout my sequence…Help.. Thanks in advance
What is the HUE of the diffuse component? It should be something that is
clearly not vague (not grey), and the specular and ambient components both
should be 000.
The demo .3ds and .vp files that come with Disk1 give you a good example of an
occluding flare.

I even used the actual object and flare routine in the example file for a test
in my project but still had the flare showing through my globe object…Any
other suggestions? BTW Thanks for the try… If
you'd like I'll upload if my modem will cooperate…

hmmm…. Try turning gamma correction off for that demo. (it was created with
gamma off — note that if you create the colors with gamma on in Medit, you can
then render it with gamma on)
