I find that I often need to rotate a USER VIEW window around the axis
perpendicular to the screen. But I find it difficult to rotate the tripod
without effecting the other axes — even with angle snap on. I can't seem to
get the rotation I need using the cursor keys, and there seems no way to
constrain the mouse-tripod adjustments to one axis. I feel I must be
overlooking something simple. Can someone set me straight?

Sorry to say, there isn't a simple way to do it. You're not missing anything
(3DS is).
Perhaps some hacker with spare time will write an IPAS function to do this?
(and upload it free to the forum!)

Jamie,
re:rotating user view perpendicular to screen.

a wishlist item.
