I have 2 observations on metallics with 3DS….
a. If it has a flat front face it needs to move.
b. If it has to stay still it really needs some "roundness"
c. If it really has to be flat and stay still then separate that flat front
face{s} and apply flat reflection with a hemispherical reflectee
object behind the camera and experiment ! with the maps you apply to that
object.
d. One other technique is to disturb the surface of the object with
a bump-map. This does not resemble the Vertigo ad. but does take you into
other areas of metals.
There you 2 [4] observations on metals.
