Has there been any recent rumors about emulators for the Amiga 1200? Mac, PC or even software emulation. It would be helpful if I could run a couple of PC programs from my Amiga. Thanks, Jim

Jim, there are more than rumors out there. For a few years, there have been programs that attempt to emulate an PC-clone and they do just fine, so long as speed is not an issue. If you require the same speed as a PC-clone, then you will want to look at hardware solutions. The software only solutions are PCTASK.LHA and the emulator available in the full Cross-DOS 5.0 package available from Consultron. I would suggest looking at PC-Task first as it is a much more robust emulation than the one in Cross-DOS. The Four Seasons of Southern California: Fire, Flood, Earthquake, and Riot.

Thanks Brian, I didn't realize PC-Task was here. I did download it just now and I will give it a try, that is as soon as I format a system disk. Speed is not really an issue, I just need to be able to load a PC program and at least have it run. Take it easy. Jim

Utilities Unlimited has designed a PCMCIA Emplant board but as of last word it won't go into production on them until and if A1200 production resumes. It seems to me the original AMAX II external Mac emulator (which plugs into an external flopy drive port) ought to work on an A1200. And I've got a spare to sell, complete with software and Mac 128K ROMs, if you're interested in giving it a whirl.
