Would it work to plug a modem from my PC-compatible into my Amiga? The modem's specs have special instructions for connection to a Mac (different serial port pin assignments, I think). I'm also wondering about PCMCIA cards — the vast majority of product is billed as PC compatible.

Adam, so long as your modem uses the standard RS-232C standard serial connector, it should work. One issue within this though is whether the modem is a Hayes compatible. If it is, you are in luck and can just use the Hayes settings in your terminal program. If not, you'll need to check your terminal software to see if your modem is in its list of available settings. As to PCMCIA, I don't have a clue. "You do trust me, don't you? Of course you do." — "To Play the King" (BBC)
