#LightWave 3.5 Problems

I am having some difficulty with my new LightWave 3.5 standalone. If
anyone out there can help me solve them, I would be very grateful.
I have an Amiga 4000/040 with 18 megs of Ram (2 chip, 16 fast) and a
1.65 gig hard drive. I installed the new LightWave 3.5 and began the
Modeler tutorial. First, the far left side of the screen is slightly
cut off. The buttons work on the left, but about 10 pixels seem to be
missing. This is the only program I have that seems to be doing this.
I usually use the Workbench in the Multiscan Productivity mode, but I
thought LightWave would open its own screen.
Also, I got to the part in the tutorial where I was to "preview" the
objects I had pulled in (the "A B C"), but when I went to
"Moving/Solid" and pressed OK, the screen went crazy. I got lots of
horizontal lines across most of the screen and a black column at the
left of the screen. The very top buttons were still visible, however,
and I was able to "Quit" the program without the computer giving me a
guru message. I attempted to use both the Modeler with Floating Point
and also the Modeler with Floating Point, but both versions did
exactly the same thing at the same moment.
Is there a way to fix this problem? I cannot seem to preview my 3D
images, which sort of makes the entire program useless. And for the
money I paid for it, that is extremely annoying to me.
Can anyone at NewTek help me out? Is this a bug with the new 3.5
version, or am I doing something wrong. I sure don't think it's a
memory problem.

It sounds to me as if your preferences are off. I would try setting
your screenmode (in Prefs) to NTSC: High Res Laced, and then going
into Overscan and adjusting your Text overscan so it is moved to the
right a bit (you may have to play with this). Run Modeler.FP like
this and see if that works.
Sounds like you are using a Multiscan Monitor with Productivity Mode
or better and have Mode Promotion turned on in your Prefs. LightWave
doesn't promote to variant resolutions properly, so for now, you will
have to run LightWave in NTSC:Hi-res Laced mode. This means you will
have to disable mode promotion, which will affect all of your other
software. There are a lot of programs in the Forums for telling
which program screens to promote and which to leave alone. Perhaps
someone can recommend one?
