I am considering purchasing a GVP A1230 Turbo+ Series II 50 Mhz accelerator for my Amiga 1200. I would also purchase a math co-processor and 16 MB SIMM. Is this reliable equipment? Will there be any compatibility problems? How will the accelerator react to 4MB PCMCIA ram? Is there an on/off switch if compatibility problems do develop? Thanks. Dave Geenen

Dave, Regarding your questions: >>Is this reliable equipment? Yes. I am currently running a 1200 with the A1230 and 20MB of ram (1-16MB and 1-4MB). >>Will there be any compatibility problems? Your programs need to be 68030 compatible (most programs are). >>How will the accelerator react to 4MB PCMCIA ram? All of the memory on the A1230 is mapped to the EXTENDED range, so it will not interfere with any PCMCIA memory. It will use the memory just fine, albeit slow. >>Is there an on/off switch if compatibility problems do develop? There is no way to disable the board once installed. Since 68020 and 68030 code are nearly identical, anything written for 68020 use should work with the 68030 as well. GVP TECH
