I have installed a GVP spectrum in an A2000 HD with GVP 030 and AMAX
IV. The software says "only one LEG found" or something like that – I
am getting no video whatsoever on a new Compaq SVGA. The GVP utility
shows the board as "?" – and says it contains bad memory. Is the
board bad? Is there some other check I can run on it?
The error is probably "Half a LEGS installed". What this means is
that the memory portion of the board is not autoconfiguring. In an
A2000, the memory portion of the Spectrum system uses 2MB of
AUTOCONFIG memory space (similar to a Bridgeboard). On the G-Force
accelerators, you can remove the J12 jumper to remap all of the
memory on the board to the EXTENDED range, leaving the autoconfig
space available for the Spectrum board. If you have 8MB of 16-bit
RAM in the system, you will need to remove 2MB of this RAM for the
Spectrum board to have enough space to autoconfigure its memory.
