#PAR questions

John,
Okay, okay. I guess I'm sold <g>. I like the comparison of PAR to BetaCam
as 3DS to Wavefront. Now, about my Micropolis… <g>
There are oodles (more VR lingo) of boards coming out for the PC. All of
them seem to claim 300K FSZBP/sec even though they use different chips.
Keep in mind that works out to a 10K model at 30 fps, tricky indeed to work
with. Remember, too, that the 300K figure is the best case. For our
purposes we need the fluid motion of 30 fps so 10K is a pretty severe
limit. Good work can be done but you have to get creative in modeling and
materials. 3 years from now we won't be having this discussion as
real-time engines will abound. VR is coming fast but isn't there yet
(maybe I should sell shoes instead <g>).
Cheers, John

That's exactly the kind of insight I was looking for, and what it means to
us 3DS maniacs. <g>

I think we've all had a thought like that from time to time but in the
end… NoT!
We can discuss the Mic email.

Maybe I'll just sell virtual shoes; never wear out, out of style – no
problem!
Cheerio, John
