Does anyone have an effective method for sharing ProPage pages with users of PageStream? Our user group newsletter editor is using PageStream however many would be contributors are using ProPage and we need to bridge this gap. I know we can easily share text which he must then layout, but for calendars and layed out pages, there must be a solution for sharing. // \X/ -BiL-

Are the people using Pro Page doing layout work for the newsletter? If they are, then currently there isn't a solution. PageStream 3 will be able to load Pro Page documents. Mark @ Soft-Logik Publishing

Can you elaborate on to what degree that PS3 will be able to load PPage pages? And the obvious question has to be asked: when will PS3 be shipping? Thanks, Bil

Bil: PageStream3 will ship sometime this quarter. We expect in March. PageStream3 can open ProPage 3 and 4 documents directly. Just choose the Open command. At this time, we haven't found anything that isn't translated properly. The only thing which may not work as expected as far as we know, is tabs. ProPage (and PageStream2) assigned the tabs to each text frame or box. PageStream3 assigns tabs as an attribute to selected blocks of text, the way all other programs work. The loader module for ProPage doesn't know where the text in an article will start another text frame, so it can't really apply the tabs to linked frames. We may just make it take the tabs from the first linked box in an article and apply those tabs to the whole article. As you can see, that's a pretty minor point because you rarely have different tabs in a linked article. (That would cause problems in ProPage or pgs2 if you reflowed the text and your tabbed text changed appearance as it changed pages.) Loading ProPage documents will really just work transparently.
