I am interested in buying Desktop, to move up from Packrat 4.107. I received a
beautiful magazine today from Okna concerning the virtues of your product.
However, in all comparisons of DTS to other PIMs, no mention is made of the
version numbers of those competing products. Do you have anything comparing
DTS to your competitors' products which would disclosed whether your marketing
people are comparing apples to apples?
Also, where can I find out something about your planned new releases?
Finally, I hope you folks don't fall into the Microsoft/Arabesque/Polaris,
etc., trap of publishing a product that uses 15-20% of system resources.

Dear Mr. Sullivan:
All of our competitors were given the opportunity to review our comparison
chart before we published the last brochure. The developers of Ascend, ACT!,
Organizer, and Commence all responded – the others did not. So, the current
versions of those noted – some of the other feature lists may be from earlier
versions.
Our next release is an update due out within the next month. It will be free
of charge and includes features like Mail Merge macros for Word 6, WP WIN 6,
and Ami Pro 3, and intelligent Dialer, boolean searching in the Address Book,
Calendar alarms that will page you if they are unanswered, etc. The next
release is slated for the first quarter of 1995 – this product will focus on
networking.
As discussed in the previous message, our system resource usage does run
between 18-24%.

I can't find anything in the brochure which identifies which version of your
competitors' products you're comparing against.
As for system resource usage, I see that someone has published some sort of
add-on for ECCO, which reduces its resource requirements significantly.
Anybody doing that for you guys? After all, 18% is the equivalent of running
three Packrat 4.107s simultaneously.

DeskTop Set uses 18-24% of system resources. I am not aware of any "add-on"
that reduces resource requirements. Verison 4.0 of MS Windows will eliminate
the current strict limitation of system resources. Therefore our development
group has decided to wait it out.
If any of our users are aware of an "add-on" please let us know.
