OK, as long as I'm on a roll this week <g>… Has anyone here had one-to-one experience with the Visual Ciruits' products? I have specs on their VTV-2000, which would provide 64K color real-time output to NTSC, and they are sending info on a newer VESA local bus output board that is output only (the other has capture capabilities), as well. It is capable of 30 frames per second at 640 x 480 (or NTSC, rather) output using TGA file rendering put through a proprietary program that compresses and them down to 'managable' size – I think it retails for around $1300 or so (the other is around $1800, I think?). The newer one isn't doing any dithering and provides TrueColor 24-bit at 30 frames per second with a 486/50 (DX or DX2) or better… Output can be composite or S-VHS ("Y/C" or whatever). (of course, like I said – it also requires a spare VLB slot)
