I just purchased a Gateway Pentium/133mhz computer with a Matrox Millenium video card. I am having trouble rendering in 3d Studio. Simple models will render but more complex ones (such as the Chevy.3ds) will stop the computer where it says "Transforming Objects" or freeze up altogether. I installed the driver disk that came with the card for ACAD and 3DS and re-ran 3ds vibcfg but I noticed that the card was still not listed as a choice so I am running it under Vesa compatibles. I am not sure what to try next?

Look in your autoexec.bat file, and see if a line in there contains "power.exe". If so, comment out this line. Power.exe is a power-saver program that basically puts your computer to sleep when it thinks nothing is running. Sometimes it thinks wrong <g>. LAM

Hi Bruce, Larry is right. I've got the same computer and had the same problem. Taking out Power.exe fixed it. Have you tried Video for Windows 1.1d yet (which uses the hardware playback)? Pretty good AVI performance! Mark
