does anyone know a way to, for example, render a scene with a simple wall with a hole in it, then an arrow shoots out of the hole? what i want to do is render the wall seperate from the arrow. the arrow would be a .flc and the wall a simple .tga. i could then run the 2 together in authorware. this would allow a much better play back off a cd. If you could hide an object but still allow it's properties to be active in the scene, then this could be possible. i tried rendering the arrow without the wall and then just the wall, but the arrow will not "appear" correctly from the hole. What to do? just in case i was refering to 3D Studio R4. Maybe an IPAS?

James, Render the the wall out to a TGA and use it as your background. Then using the object attribute turn on the matte object for the wall and render out the animation with the arrow and wall. Should solve your problem. Peter W. Spectral Imaging

peter, thanks for the info. Sometimes the recall function shuts down. i also seem to be having trouble morphing materials. i'll set it all up then set the morph targets and all is well. i go to the last morphed target and set morph materials. it seems to work fine, but when morphing to a transparent material, it doesn't morph the materials at all. The actual morph is fine, just the material morph.

James, I have not worked with morphing materials a whole lot, but if you are just trying to fade an object out you can use the vary.sxp in the opacity channel to fade the object out. Petre W.
