Anyone; I have 3Dstudio with a kurta tablet installed. The tablet works fine as a mouse but I cannot get it to operate within a certain tablet area. I am trying to configure the tablet so that the pointing area is the same as the area used in AutoCAD (Screen Area). Can anyone give me a hint or pointers to a solution. Iskandar

Iskandar: I don't believe that the Kurta tablet will work in anything except mouse emulation mode, as you've seen. Anyone else tried this with any success? Greg Pyros

Indeed I run mine in mouse emulation mode, but I am able to scale any portion of it as active that I wish! I just use the scale tablet button at the top of the pad. -Tyler

If your Kurta has Summa emulation you may be able to use the 3DS built in SUMMA driver.

Iskandar, Here is your problem solved. I too have a KURTA XGT tablet. I ran into the same problem. You need to go to the KURTA tablet configuration menu and select either ABSOLUTE or RELATIVE for your tablet settings. Whatever it is now, you need the other setting instead. Understand? If you don't post me back and I will tell you what mine is set at. By the way, you may need to issue the command K_CONFIG at your dos prompt to get there. Zack

Zack; I have a Kurta IS/ONE and the only options I have are ABSOLUTE or RELATIVE. Am I missing a setup step somewhere? Here is what I've done. 1. In 3DS.set I set the required variable to look for DGPADI. 2. I copied the DGKURTA2.EXP driver into the DRIVERS subdirectory. 3. In DOS , I've set DGPADI=c:\3ds4\drivers\dgkurta2.exp When I enter 3DStudio, it recognizes that I have a Kurta Pensmith configured in low resolution as a 12×12 (my tablet is really 12×18) tablet, but the curser does not show up and 3DS later alerts (dialogue box) that Device is not found. Also when I do * (configure) and pick T for tablet, the alert comes up. Am I doing the right procedure or am I totally off base somewhere? Iskandar

" curser does not show up and 3DS later alerts (dialogue box) that Device is not found." This sounds like the COM device is not properly set. Make sure that after you get things set up correctly (try COM2, configure for COM2, etc.) you save your settings with 3DS.PRJ. (You save your blank screen as a project file, and call it 3DS.)

Iskandar, Where do you live? I can download the KURTA BBS number for you if you. That should give you a direct connection to the inside for prompt and accurate answers. You might check and see if there is a port conflict. If the software won't recognize the hardware confirm that the port selection is the same. I thought you had a XGT 12×12. That is what I have and that is why I thought that I might be able to help you. Zack
