#Win 95 and 3dsr4
2 messages in this thread
I've just recently upgraded to win95 and have a few questions about running
3ds:
1) If I run 3ds under win95 3ds appears to run properly but the interface
displays incorrectly, what is normally grey or blue becomes black and text gets
dialog boxes are just text and border color. My question is do the vibrant
drivers function under win95?
2) The alternate method is to run 3ds under dos mode, in this case 3ds runs and
displays fine but dos mode does not set up my network drivers so 3ds can't see
any network drives. I can't find away to manually get on the network, win95
uses its own network drivers and my old Novell netware doesn't seem to function
anymore.
I read a few tips posted in the library that suggests the way to get around
this is to custom install win95 using my Novell drivers. Is this the only way?
I'd also like to solve the vibrant display problem and be able to run 3ds from
win95 and not always have to go to dos mode. Any suggestions?
Kenneth,
WIN95 is an untested and unsupported environment. However, several people have
reported getting 3DS to work under it.
As far as Vibrant, in WIN95, I have no idea whether the Vibrant drivers would
work. You might try the VGA or VESA selections. In a true DOS mode, the Vibrant
drivers work fine. I have no idea why you would not be able to see your network
drives.
If others have set this up, they might log in and tell you their experiences.
