I am looking for some info on a good video card to playback AVI files at
800×600 full screen and 65k colors. Has anyone heard of the Reel magic card?
Who makes it?
Also, is there any way to convert from AVI to MPEG files? With an accelerator,
would an MPEG file work better than an AVI file for full screen play back?
Any info or advice would br greatly appreciated!

Video Logic has been selling a hardware assisted AVI accellerator called the
928 MOvie which does an excellent job of accellerating video as well as
hardware pixel interpolation so that even a 320×240 AVI looks good full screen.
Also, ATI and Diamond have "video" versions of thier products that have DCI
support which does effectively the same thing .. but 3DS drivers are lacking.

XingCD has been shipping for quite a while and does a very nice job of exactly
that. Also, there are products like the MARS card which will make MPEG's
directly.
