The Jaz(z) is familiar to those who watched the A-Team<g>.
But the Iomega Jaz is a 1 Gig disk drive, it seems. Being a enthusiastic
hardware watcher, I searched the Sept. Computer Shopper but found only one ad
with the Jaz (without a listed price).
Anyone seen a Jaz? Reaction? Interest?
According to Iomega, Jazz drives are not available to the public until
December. Call them at 800-MY-STUFF. (I think)

Very similar to the Zip Drive, also by Iomega. Drive lists for $499 internal,
$599 external, 1GB disks list for $99. You don't have to flip them to get the
full 1GB, like 1.3GB opticals have 650MB/side. Supposedly it will sustain
3.6MBs read/writes, so it has AV speeds. I don't know if you could use it on a
PVR though The Jaz is SCSI.

I'm not a big fan of removeable media drives like the Syquest, Bernoulli, 1.3GB
opticals, and 230MB MO. They are have limitations in one area or another. They
have expensive media, or small capacity, speed, etc. I don't transfer data
between machines or use service bureaus. If I had to exchange data with someone
I would get the same drive as them. The Zip drive sounds nice because it holds
100MB on a $20 disk and the drive costs $200. I know three people that already
have Zip drives. I was thinking about getting one, but I really wouldn't use
it. I have a network to transfer data between my machines and I have a HP DAT
to store data offline.
A DAT may be more useful for video/3D people. The drives costs $800, the tapes
are $15, and they hold 4-8GB.
