Does any one know of software that can either play qiuck time movies in dos or
can convert quicktime .mov file to flc format files (or even a series of
tga,jpegs etc)

Adobe Premiere will read MOV files and can output TGA, TIFFs, etc.
For less expensive options try GO GRAPHSUPPORT or the file finder GRAPHFF.
