Chuck, FWIW, I'm using an Imagine-128 video card, and previews seem to play back more or less at half speed, i.e. a 30 frame preview played back at 30 fps actually takes about 2 secs. Playback at 15 fps takes 1 sec. Kent Seize the day…and throttle it!

I don't think it matters what card you are running, under Windows 3.x the speed is about half of what it should be. NewTek knows this and they say that it is being worked on. OTOH, if you run Windows NT, you'll get the 30fps. You will also be pleasantly surprised at the overall render speed increase of all types of scenes and the dramatic increase of others (I haven't pinned down just what functions are faster under NT except shadow maps take less than half the time to calculate). Examples: 1. Delorean scene on a 486DX4-100, 48megs, Win3.1 8:00 Identical scene on same machine but WinNT 3:40 2. Computer scene under 3.1 about 9:00 Computer scene under NT about 4:45 All are done with med res, low antialias, segment memory 8.8meg and no DOF, motion blur or field rendering. I plan on using NT for LW renders, if for nothing else. Jim Roof

Um, I AM using NT, and preview speed is about 1/2 what it should be. Kent Seize the day…and throttle it!

In the pre-release version, preview playback timing is getting varied results depending on display cards, etc. The product team reports that this is a problem that they feel can be worked out in the code in the finished version. Chuck.
