#Ram Problem

I'm buying some GVP Ram from one of our fellow forum users,but he's having a
problem.
He has 16 meg,and he's selling me 8 meg. When he removes the eight meg, his
machine won't boot. When he puts it back,all's well.
We have tried all of the obvious things like shutting off burst mode(in the
startup sequence and with the hardware jumper J22 open) Checking that J20 is
set for 4meg chips,ect.
Of course, the ram was taken from the bottom two slots.
Any thoughts ?

A couple of other shots in the dark:
Try leaving just the one 4MB simm in slot one. Try each of the four simms in
this manner. Then, if you get one to work, add another.
Try booting from a WB floppy, and see what happens, and if it boots, see if the
ram is recognized. Beyond that, I'm stumped. You might try sending a FAX to
the ex-GVP guy out there…
If it's the 040-33 that he has, if you get nowhere I could open up my machine
and see if I can find anything out…

Thanks trent. I'm going to call him and recomend trying one chip at a time. I'm
also going to try the "continue" command (left mouse button) to see if it will
boot.
I am also going to try a floppy boot, and run some mem tests.
I don't have the machine with me, so I've been trouble shooting the system over
the phone.
I talked to Micro Pace tech support, they are stummped.
I'll keep trying, and if you think of anything else, give a shout.
