#3DS Max and the R4 Blue
2 messages in this thread
Until a couple of months ago, we were using P5/66's to develop Max, and we were
very satisfied with performance. There's no need to throw a ton of hardware at
it, but if you do the program uses it.
In addition to what Jonas said re 3DS/DOS (Classic) not being obsoleted by Max
(because it's a completely different animal), I can assure you that we didn't
forget the little guys (of the future). We're developing a program with a 6-7
year product life cycle, and we HAD to do what we did in order to make that
happen.

Great news!

I'm very glad you did, since I have every intention of needing it in the
not-too-distant future. I have always felt like I get MORE than my money's
worth with Yost/Autodesk products. I have seen others, but either the
documentation was louzy, the program too slow for realistic use, or the user
base too small to support the product over time, so I was VERY pleased to find
3DS — it is just that when I started to feel comfortable with it I was
afraid it was going out the window completely and the only way to stay current
was to buy an Alpha and 128mb Ram (with all the attendant peripherals)
