Please can somebody help? I bought an Amiga 600 second hand, and have only been able to get Red & Purple displaying on screen, Yellows & Greens do not work. A local computer firm in North Devon, England have suggested replacing a chip at a cost of L100 to put the computer right, but I cannot help feeling as though I've been badly dealt with as the computer doesn't work at all now, after the local firm have messed with the computer, and it only cost me L120 in the first place! Can anybody tell me what may be wrong with my machine and or guide me to a reputable repairer within my local area? I look forward to an early response, Thanks Phil.

There is an Amiga dealer in Exeter – excellent – and I have his business card on my Amiga at home, but I won't be there until Friday night. If you don't locate him or someone else who can help before then, ask again on Friday and I'll look it up for you.

Phil, Brian signs on here almost every weekend. But the only email address that I have for him is: bfowler@cix.compulink.co.uk. I thought I had his CIS number, but apparently not. The business card I have for Brian says that his office phine is (0392) 499755. I know that this is a little old, and that everyone in England has had to add an extra digit to the phone numbers since I got this one – a 1 – but I don't know where to put it. I thought you would. But contact him at CIX and get his current number, why don't you? —Betty

The 1 goes after the 0 at the start of the number. There are a few exceptions to this but it does apply to old 0392 numbers. I think if you are calling from outside the UK you do not include the 0. The number you gave for Brian Fowler is correct according to their latest advert in Amiga Computing. Peter Wade Autopiloting from London, England

Thanks. I thought it was correct. I have some of his business cards lying right here on the computer. But he gave them to me about three or four years ago, and I knew about the addition of that '1' to the numbers – did not remember exactly where to put it. —Betty
