The Commodore documentation regarding Gadtools glosses over the subject to briefly. I cannot create a fully functional listview gadget, although I can render one which displays all of the necessary functions. Neither can I place Gadtools scroll gadgets in the border of a window. Can anyone help please? DSB, Edinburgh, UK

I must admit, I haven't done any gadtools programming, I remember reading that you cannot create scroll gadgets in a windows border ( a la workbench), and you have to use intuition or boopsi ( someone will say I am wrong, but that is what I remember reading ). What do you mean that you can render one, but not create a fully functional listview gadget???? What functionality is there except rendering it??? (do you mean you can draw it, but not use the keyboard or mouse to select items?). Phill

David, I'm not sure what you're doing, but creating listviews are relatively trivial. All the info necessary is contained in the 2.0 RKMs and the autodocs. You simply fill out the structure members then create the gadgets., ie… ng.ng_TopEdge = te; ng.ng_LeftEdge = win->BorderLeft + 12; ng.ng_Width = 508 + 16; ng.ng_Height = 12 * 14; ng.ng_TextAttr = &topaz; ng.ng_VisualInfo = vi; ng.ng_GadgetText = NULL; ng.ng_Flags = NULL; ng.ng_GadgetID = BOOK_LV; ng.ng_UserData = NULL; book_lv = g = CreateGadget(LISTVIEW_KIND, g, &ng, GTLV_Labels, BookList, GTLV_ShowSelected, NULL, GTLV_Selected, 0, TAG_DONE); -sja
