I got bogged down on the "then you decompress it" part. Got file onto hard
drive, and CLI snears at my attempts to do anything to it. More specific "then
you decompress it advice?
put lha x filename.lha
make sure lha is in c:

You will need LHA. It can be downloaded from the AmigaUsers library
Achivers/crunchers as LHA138.run. It is self extracting. From a cli line, in
the directory where you have this file type:
LHA138.run
It will unpack itself. Copy the executable (LHA) to your c: directory. Then
change directories to where you have the Cannon driver file and type:
lha x filename.lha
("filename" being the exact name of the compressed file including the
extension)
It should unpack just fine. From there, you copy the driver into
Devs/printers. There is a program in Prefs that will allow you to set this
driver as the default printer driver for your system. It should then work.

Dear Asha,
please never copy a driver to the printer directory yourself unless there is no
other way. Your recommendation doesn't work with the Canon drivers as they are
compressed. Anyway: it's much easier to install a Canon driver:
1. Download the CanonDisk.
2. You also need a lzh compatible decompression program like lha, lharc, lz and
whatever…
3. Decompress the driver disk. Usualy "lha x CAN31B.LZH" will work.
4. Use the Workbench and click on the installation icon available after
decompression.
5. Just follow the instructions given by the installation disk and readme file.
You don't need the shell except for decompression of the driverdisk. (note:
there are decompression utilities that do no require you to us the shell…).

Thanks for correcting my mistake. The only drivers I've ever installed were
for the Oki-20 and the HP500C, both of which simply get copied to the proper
directory. I'll keep this in mind in the future!
