Okay I give up!!! I have downloaded TCP4.LHA and TCP30B2.LHA from the
Networking Lib but for some unknown reason (unknown to me at least) I keep
getting a corrupt archive. I've never had a problem decompressing archives
until now.
I've had problems downloading files at high BPS rates (=>14.4 on my stock
A2000, something to do with the serial port not supporting it or something) so
I dropped down to 2400bps and downloaded a portion of one of them. I say a
portion of one because I was not about to wait an hour only to find out the
same thing had happened. I checked the partial file and noticed the same
pattern so I GIVE UP.
What now? I get the same errors decompressing or just listing the archives
from three or four different programs. They work fine on other archives. Has
anyone else had problems with these archives? Any ideas?
I am using AutoPilot 1.80 on a stock A2000, v2.04 to download my files.

Brian, I've not seen reports of anyone else getting corrupted archives from
these files. Naturally, if you download only part, that one will show up as
corrupted when you try to unpack it – but the full files should have worked
fine.

These files are the *only* files I have ever come across that don't correctly
decompress with LX, LZ and earlier versions of lha. I banged my head for a
whole day on this one until I dicovered the lil' secret.<g>

Yes – that's why we always recommend LHA138.RUN. It frequently handles files
that the others cannot manage.

You need to use LHA to decompress those archives. LZ won't handle them.
LHA is available in library 14: LHA138.RUN

I bet you're not using lha1.38 to un-archive the AmiTCP files. Lot's of people
have had this problem with AmiTCP. Just get LHA138.run from the libraries. It
is a self-extracting archive. Place the new lha in c: cd to the directory where
TCP4.lha is and type: lha -a -x x TCP4.lha
Please don't give up!! The internet is a very valuable resource, I have found
true jewels there but also my share of 'rocks'!<g>

Yep! Your right. I had an older version. I'll put that on my "Things to do
when all else fells" list (right before "Cry for help and/or throw it out a
nearby window). :).
I putter around the internet at work through CI$ and thought it was about
time I give it a shot at home on good 'ole Ami'.

While you're down there 'swampin' in LA you might check out your local inet
providers. Here in the LA(city/surrounding) area it's getting ridiculously
cheap..$14.95/mo unlimited access and such! $2.95/hr will get
expensive…fast!<g>

I'm not sure I completely understand your problem. Is it the download that
is causing the problem or the unarchiver you're using? Are you using LHA to
decompress? If not, download LHA138.run (self-extracting) and copy the
executable to your c: directory. Hopefully that will solve your problem.
What kind of problems are you having with high speed d/loads? I d/load at
14.4 on my A2000/040 (same serial port) with little to no problems.
