I have a friend who would like to join CIS. He has an Amiga computer. Will the software CIS sends in his sign-up kit work on his machine? Thanks Tony

Hi Tony, Probably *NOT* because CIS only sends PC software. But if your friend has a terminal-program, he should set it to: RTS/CTS on 8 Bits 1 Stopbit no parity And the same should be set in the serial prefs of the Amiga. Then he can go online with the Test ID he got from CIS and the password, he also got. In AmigaVend he would find a file called AP.LHA and APDOC.LHA which he should download (I am shure you can help him with that <g>). He should unpack it with LHA (If he didn't got that he can find it AMIGAUSER Forum called LHA138.RUN [that file is selfexpanding: simply copy to ram: and from the CLI type in LHA138 and Return and it will expand to some files. Lha with ? will bring him help. He should copy LHA to his C: directory) If he has copied AP.LHA and APDOC.LHA to ram: and went over it with lha, he can continue working from the workbench. Tell him to read the docs. In this case they help <vbg>. cu Ernst >=====on AutoPilot_1.80 [what else?] for AMIGA—–> from Europe/Austria/Vienna

Tony, No, CIS does not have any Amiga software. Does your friend have at least OS2.04 in his machine, 2M of memory and at least 5M of hard drive? If so, he can use AutoPilot. A demo version is found in AmigaVend library 9, AP.LHA. It's a great program, and much faster than the CIM programs. —Betty

Tony, <I have a friend who would like to join CIS. He has an Amiga computer. Will the software CIS sends in his sign-up kit work on his machine?> No. He can access CIS with any decent terminal program (my favorite is Terminus, which is available here for downloading). If he is running OS 2.04 (or higher), has 3 megs of memory (1 chip) and 3-5 megs of space on his harddrive he can use a lovely front end called AutoPilot. It is a commercial program, the demo of which can be downloaded from the AmigaVendor library 9 as AP.Lha (he might want to d/load the docs, APDOCS.lha also). If he doesn't already have LHA, that can be downloaded from the AmigaUser library (Archivers/Crunchers) as LHA138.run (self extracting). AutoPilot is truly a lovely front end which will allow one to do most of the CIS mail offline, saving quite a bit of money. If your friend likes it, he can type GO SWREG and register it, after which he will get a magic email that will turn it into the full version. Hope this helps! Asha @}–`–,-
