I have always thought that one of the Amiga's best features was its speech capabilities. However, I'm not finding many speech programs on compuserve. (I'm fairly new here.) Or, perhaps I'm just not looking in the right place or the keywords "speech" talk and "speak" aren't the proper search terms. If anybody knows the names of any speech programs and the forum/library where they can be found, I would greatly appreciate any assistence. Tom Ertle 102226,1677

Tom, right offhand, I don't know of any speech programs. The keywords you mention are the ones I'd have used to locate such programs. I agree with you that this feature of the AMiga has not been well-used. I don't know which is the cause and which the reason, but Commodore did not pay the royalties for the speech feature in its later operating systems, so you won't find it after version 1.3. If you have an earlier version, though, you can just copy the files over to new versions and they continue to work. —Betty

AtalkIII will speak whatever is written on the screen. Quite handy during boring chat rooms.
