#Decals
6 messages in this thread
Can someone give me some hints on making decals. I have scanned in some labels
that I want to apply to my 3d objects. How do I control the size of my decal.
Does it just depend on the size it is when scanned and saved in Photoshop?

Lu,
>> How do I control the size of my decal. <<
these basic issues are covered extremely well in the tutorials. Please do the
tutorials (particularly #11 in release 3/4).
Thanks for the info but I'm still using rel 2.

Do you know about the Ani Pro method?

I originally saved decal as an anipro cel but as the decals have a lot of text
they seemed to look better in photoshop as a TGA. Not sure what you are talking
about though so fill me in.

If I remeber the thread correctly, you were having trouble with mapps?
On the work I doing at the mo' I render the object to be mapped as aflat
object with amb' light of 255 then take the gif to ani-pro add detials etc,
and create a seperate bump mapp and then using the method from Inside 3D's, I
use the Clip Changes/Traces method to save the cel and then scale it back to
the object in 3D's using Alt/Scale/object. Does that make sense, you see this
way the decal method of trying to place the decal on the right place on the
object become irrelivent, And the Cel method saves loads of RAM, due to cels
often being far smaller files than TGA etc.
My Runabout on the ASHOWCASE FORUM uses this method alot.
