Bob The Problem is: I've got a file that I thought was going out as a 81/2 x11format fiery CLC! My client decided they want to have a color neg for flexibility in print quantity. this makes me happy because my job will remain in the RGB world ! The problem is that I've never sent a job to film recorder before and I'm not sure how large the Tif file needs to be! My panorama will be 11×17 and others will be 81/2 x 11. When I go out to 81/2 x 11 I usually use a Fuji printer that is happy w/ a 3.7 MB file and yields very slight aliasing. The Question is: What worrys me is how can I come up w/ the proper file size to get me at that threshold file size? Also what render checklist do I need to follow in preparation for a large file from 3ds? Please tell me that I can type in the res and pump out graphic!!<g> At any rate I enjoyed your msg on "life on the streets" at Sigraph, DUDE!<BG> Pre-Season is in full swing here! Actual games are 1 week away! I'm modeling a team pennant arrangement for the spectators tents………….the coach's response to seeing the render was "DUDE! WAY COOL!" ……musta liked it!<G> You may guess her age and energy level!<BG> Gary

Gary: When going to a film recorder you want to get as much info into the file as possible so if you can manage a 5000×4000 image then go for it. This will be a 114.4 MB file, however. I've had decent results with files in the 18mb range (2000×1600) and the prints were 18"x24". Ways to conserve space – try JPEG vs tif or a 16 bit .tga. Let me know what you chose DUDE. <G> – Bob Ritger
