I downloaded some files on Jul 29th that are archieved. Being new to the
service I didn't pay much attention to the instructions& now i can't find them
again. What un-zip program should i use for libraries that end in .000?

Are you running NavCIS? Some CIS software automatically appends new
extensions to files such as .000 or .001. This really makes life difficult for
the downloader as you know. You will need to rename the file to its correct
extension. If the file was a .zip then rename it to include the .zip extension.
Same would hold true for .gif and .jpg, etc.

If you use WINZIP then it's a breeze. It just "knows" how to deal w/ these
improper extensions. Check out WINZIP 'cause it's WAY-HOT!

Winzip has been one of my favorite programs for a couple of versions (my most
recent is 5.6 is that current?), but it won't necessarily be the most practical
answer in this case. I wasn't going to assume that Ken could be certain that
the file he downloaded was indeed an archive let alone one made by PKZIP. If
the file was an image – a .gif or a
.jpg then Winzip would useless. For future use a file ending in .001, .002,
etc. would sit there on your hard drive a mystery. Now was that an image file
or a bunch of image files or maybe that was a .doc file? IMHO, renaming is a
better approach but as you pointed out not absolutely necessary.

the newest version is 6.0 of winzip

PKUNZIP works on these files also. You just need to be more explicit on the
command line: PKUNZIP YADAYADA.000
