I need some help. What else is new.<G> I just installed a xl external high density drive on a amiga 2000. I don't think i'm doing something right. When i insert a floppy in to the internal low density drive, it displays DF0:???? and PC0:????, yes i did install the cross doss from wb2.1. But when i insert a high density floppy in the new drive it displays only DF2:????. It formats o.k., but when i tried to copy a file, it was 988842 in size, during the copy process it gave me a track error message, I clicked o.k., then it continued copying. when it was finished, it did show me same file size copied, but i could not display it. Also, how do I get this drive to recognize a pc format? Why does it not show me both formats? The manual is not very explenatory. BTW, i do have a hard drive. I would like to be writing and reading both amiga and pc disks. I would appreciate some help. thanks, george

George; What version of the OS are you running? (Kickstart and WorkBench) Are you saying that the internal drive no longer works when the external drive is installed? You said that you installed CrossDos. Did you mount PC2:? (or put the mount icon in devs:DosDrivers?) -bill

George, Did you install the patch that came on the disk with the XL drive? You will not be able to write to the drive in the high-density format without the patch installed. Cross-Dos requires that you create a PC2 Icon and install it in the Devs/DosDrivers drawer. The simplest way of doing this is to copy the PC0 icon that is already there, rename it to PC2, and then change the UNIT=0 tooltype to UNIT=2. Reboot your system try Cross-Dos again on DF2.
