I'm having trouble getting a CMI VI2000RF board to work properly with my
VCR and A2000. I'm trying to record a DeLuxe Video. I have a cable
running from the composite output on the CMI video board to the Video In
port on the back of my VCR. While I'm certainly no hardware hacker, the
installation seemed to be pretty straight forward. (remove Amiga cover,
plug board in slot, put Amiga cover back on) Anyone have any ideas?
Also, how do I hook up a 1780 monitor for composite output? The video
board has three ports: Chroma, Luma and Composite. I have tried just about
every combination between those three ports and the Video and Chroma ports
on the back of the monitor. I've also unplugged the RGB cable running to
the back of the monitor and have set the Video Mode switch on the front of
the monitor to COMPosite.
Well, I don't have answers, but I do have some suggestions… First,
assuming a television set displays the CMI output correctly, and it's only
the video tape itself which is coming out wrong, you should make sure that
the video plays in *interlace* mode. Standard VCRs generally do not work
correctly with non-interlaced modes. Should you need it, there is a
program in one of the DLs over in AmigaTech called SETLACE, which will turn
on interlace mode even for non-interlaced screens. Second, regarding the
connection to the monitor: Composite goes to Video. Chroma can go to
Chroma, but it should be optional. Switch on front set to Composite. If
you still have trouble, I suggest you call CMI and tell them what you've
tried… You might have a defective unit. –>Steve Bennett
