We all have our preferences, Steve. Have you ever worked with a dyslexic person? I have one in my family, and spent years trying to help dyslexic children get through school. About 10% of the population is dyslexic, and about 90% of the dyslexics are male. This would indicate a very high proportion of computer users having problems with it. A dyslexic person has severe problems with seeing things in proper order. The particular means in which word-from-manual are implemented make them extremely difficult for dyslexics. The programs call for:Word – then paragraph – then page. The user must reverse that and find Page – then paragraph – then word. He then must get every letter of the word in the correct order. This is extremely hard for him to do. It has nothing at all to do with intelligence. How many geniuses do YOU know who have difficulty with reading and spelling? How many absolutely wonderful programmers can't spell anything except the keywords in their favorite language? Probably it is my work with dyslexics, and my knowledge of their problems, that make me so intensely dislike this method. It can very effectively lock out a legitimate purchaser, but is not at all hard for a knowledgeable person to disable. As a matter of fact – it is the nly form of CP I have ever even attempted to disable, and I had no trouble doing it when I was determined. And yes, I owned the program legitimately. Betty
