The problem with fluorescents is that they do not contain a complete
spectrum.
The work by "fluorescence" which leaves holes in the light spectrum that
indicate what elements are fluorescing. Therefore, even with color "correction"
you can't GET what isn't there to start with, and you're likely to get wierd
light balance problems. I doubt even electronics can make up for the missing
wavelengths, unless the designers KNEW which lampswere in use and could predict
their spectral characteristics.
(No two fluorescent blubs are alike, either–another problem. GE ones will
have a different color balance from Sylvania.)
I gave up messing with the photofloods yesterday, as one of mine EXPLODED,
sending hot glass everythwhere.
200-watt households (color temp approx. 3000 K) seem to work FINE, and allow
the light to be evenly distributed.
