Here's a weird one for you: Can you remember what P.E.T. stood for (I do!).
Also, what did M.I.T.S. (creator of that creature known as the Altair 8800)
stand for (again, I know).
Prize for guessing both: A week in Burbank, CA. Prize for guessing one: Two
weeks in Burbank. Prize for not getting either: Life imprisonment in
Burbank! (No, I don't hate Burbank. Just think it's a funny name!)
Oh no! Tell me it isn't so! I don't want two weeks in Burbank! I don't
know MITS, but PET was for 'Personal Electronic Transactor', which formed
the basis for the magazine name 'Transactor'. I never had any Intel silicon
sitting where there should be a CPU, so I didn't pay much attention to the
machines that had them. I had, I think, the 4th PET to arrive in
Vancouver.
I see Larry already got PET. MITS, in my opinion stood for 'Mindf******
Inteligence Testing System', where those that sorta-kinda figured out what
was going on tended to become a bit strange, and took to giggling at odd
moments.
How about Micro Instrumentation Telemetry Systems?
