#Comal for Amiga?

I was (am??) a beta tester for Amiga COMAL. I received the disk and two
mailings containing docs, etc. I was a slow version and the editor was
pretty bad. I wrote several long letters giving my reactions, but I have
not head from them since. I was told that they are not getting support
from their parent company, so they are doing COMAL in their spare time. The
game plan was to do one for the Atari, then the Amiga, and then the IBM
(reflecting the European point of view of the authors?) The version I saw
was not bad; it just needed work. I was a big COMAL fan on the 64–I do
not know how it would fare in the Amiga market, though. // Jim
I talked with Brian Grainger about it just a little back in June, but he
didn't seem overly optimistic, either. And I haven't heard from Len in
ages. Jesse Knight was my best COMAL contact close to home, but he is
doing C and assembler on the Amiga and has dropped the COMAL, so far as I
know.
I still think it is an awfully neat language, especially for teaching kids
to program. Better than BASIC, easier than PASCAL or MODULA – and heaven
forbid that we should start using C for the little kids! Hope COMAL comes
through.
