Steve,
Whap! isn't guaranteed to work with ARP. It so happens that it does,
as most programs do. Should a future incarnation of ARP have a serious
conflict with the system as shipped by CBM, Whap! will work with the
"official" release of the system software. Since I don't believe the
authors of ARP have any intention of doing that, there is no problem.
I picked on ARP as an example. Maybe I shouldn't have. Whap! will
never be guaranteed to work with any non-CBM supported system software. ARP
is well behaved, short of a couple of incompatibilities. Some other system
may not be. View! doesn't like click to front utilities. Click to front
is not (now) a CBM supported function. Because it isn't, and I don't use
any of those various programs, it didn't occur to me to be that there would
be a problem. Can you see where I'm going? I can't guarantee it will work
with every utility/shell/new-gee-whiz DOS replacement around.
Best,
