NONSTOP MAXTOR
2 messages in this thread
ANYONE,
I am experiencing a strange problem with my MAXTOR hard drive which is
freaking the hell out of me.
Essentially it won't switch itself off. It boots up the computer normally
enough, though there has been a very definate slowdown in accessing and
saving material from and to the drive.
Usually after booting up it switches off and likewise when accessing or
saving something but now it just keeps whirring away and the hard drive
light remains on.
I'm finding it very difficult to concentrate on anything while I'm using
the computer because of this constant drive noise as I keep thinking that
damage is being done somewhere. Though so far as I can ascertain no damage
is actually being done.
Can anybody help?

Sounds like you have a partition that needs to be validated. At a shell
prompt, type "info [enter]." Do any partitions show as not validated?
