Those keyboard flashes do give a clue as to the problem. I looked it up when I
was writing an article about it a year or two ago, but don't remember all of
them now. I found the information in the hardware manual – kind of hidden near
the back.
Well – here they are: Single blink – ROM checksum failure (keyboard ROM)
Two blinks – RAM test failed (keyboard RAM)
Three blinks – watchdog timer test failed
Four blinks – a short exists between two row lines
or one of the seven special keys
This, of course, was for the keyboard on the A1000, and I don't know if it has
been changed. The info is in Appendix H of the hardware ref. manual.

Thanks a lot! Lowell was able to DL your response where he works but
couldn't reply. He's gonna tear it open and look for unseated IC's, loose
edge-connectors, etc. Hope it's simple since it's out of warranty.
